Investigative tools (Simple Interactive Statistical Analysis & Stat Soft, Electronic Statistics)2/23/2014 The first investigative tool that I came across that I liked and though was very useful is, Simple interactive Statistical Analysis. This is a free online site that offers all any of the most comment statistical analyzes for any type of study. They have the following statistical test, T-test, one-way ANOVA, and Diagnosis. They also have data procedureswhich include, correlation/regression, NL curve, and the mean. It even has calculations. This is a very helpful free site to use. The second one that I liked was StatSoft, electronic Statistics. This site has all of the basic statistics along with the ANOVA and MANOVA. One thing that I found interesting was that they even had the CHAID Analysis. It also included cluster analysis and about 18 other very interesting statistical analysis. Both of these sites are great and I will be using one if not both to run my fake statistical Snap Survey, this is an online survey software that will allow one to set up the survey any way they want to. We may address it to anyone that we want, or any population necessary. This site is not free but one may request a demo or a free trial to get some free surveys out there and test the site, before they go ahead and purchase the rights to use the site. The other good thing about this site is that we may collect the data via email and then go ahead and run an analyses. so this site will allow us to set up the survey the way we want to, collect the data, and run a statistical analyses. It is also secure and private to the user.
Pros to having a professional portfolio has to be the ability to personalize it to make it you own. We the publisher may choose to make the page professional or both personal and professional. We may choose to include our personal life and family, and our hobbies. Or we may just stay focused on making our self's very marketable.
Con's to having a professional portfolio would have to be that we do not know what other people think of our page. Or if possible employers are going through our portfolio and they think it is to professional and they do not see the fun side of us. Also vice-versa if the employer thinks that our page is to private or to simple and it does not market us as a professional we may be out of the job. The pro's to a personal web site are that we may give it a bit of everything personal life, professional life, and our affiliated companies or things we like to do our spear time. We may not only have all professional people following us, it may also be friends and family. Con's to having a personal web site are that having friends and family on the page would be some of the comments that they might post on your page. Maybe there are comments that are inappropriate for employers to see. But the worst would be friends or family posting an inappropriate picture on the page and the possible employers see them and the job is lost. The pro's to having a LinkedIn are having the people that you graduated with or people from an internship that you have previously worked in. There is also the options to fill in every college or universities that we have attended. This way the page will find anyone that has attended the schools that you have. This way we may stay in touch and find new or current positions (jobs) that are open or opening up soon. The con's I don't think there are any con's to this kind of method, well at least not for I. I have never been the social media expert that knows every little trick to the internet or to a site. I am more of the lets meet face to face and talk about the job or subject at hand. This gives each person a taste of what they are in for. As an athletic trainer we are very hands on in our profession so why sit behind a computer screen and network that way? I would rather go to the national meetings every year and shake hands and make those long term connections.
I like both of these pages to get noticed or to keep in touch with friends and professionals. But the main difference that I see with using LinkedIn is it is more of a professional site and a better way to meet and stay in touch with professionals. The site is more focused on work and advertising the person father than Facebook that is more of a page to keep all or your friends updated on your life. I just see LinkedIn to be more of a professional site that makes your page professional and highlights the goals and the accomplishments along with the current positions they hold. Facebook is a great way to advertise a business, group, foundation, or hobby. But it is not a place to advertise yourself for any potential jobs or career paths.
